Let your stress float away on this summer solstice evening with the relaxing, restorative practice of Yoga Nidra (Deep Relaxation). This practice will help you to renew and replenish and to prepare for the longer, sun-filled days of summer, when the energy of life is most fully charged. This deep relaxation class will end just in time for you to enjoy watching the beautiful sunset over Waterman Lake on this longest day of the year.
What is Yoga Nidra?
Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation and conscious relaxation practice that will bring you into the state between being awake and being asleep. During this altered state of consciousness you will be guided through body awareness, breath awareness, emotional awareness, and visualization, ending with awakening and re-integration. This systematic relaxation brings ease to the very deepest layers of our being. Modern research shows that Yoga Nidra can help with everything from headaches to PTSD, and can be a wonderful respite for anyone craving calm in an overstressed world. It is said that one hour of Yoga Nidra is equivalent to 3 hours of sleep.
Participants will be lying down on their yoga mats during the entire practice, and are encouraged to bring a favorite blanket, pillow or anything that will help them to get into a totally comfortable, restful position.
