Piano Men

Due to the unexpected death of Larry Friedlander in February 2011, the Jewelry District’s Hi-Hat was forced to close. While all who loved Larry still mourn his passing (and many still grieve the loss of the jazz club), at least there’s a silver lining in this dark cloud. The space has reopened as Point Street Dueling Pianos, Rhode Island’s only dueling piano show. Five nights per week (Tuesday-Saturday) at 8pm sharp, the stage is set for a pianist showdown. The show is a composed of a dash of song and a dollop of comedy: requests are made, songs are played and hilarity ensues. It can get a little loud and a little rowdy (especially when a customer pays to veto a song), but that’s all part of the fun. It’s high time Providence got its own dueling piano bar – one that also serves up dinner and a late night menu (including late night breakfast items such as Almond Joy Pancakes and Strawberry Cheesecake French Toast) so that you can keep the party going all evening long.
