Vacation Time

The much-anticipated April school vacation is approaching which means kids of all ages running free, celebrating the lack of homework and school time. Of course for you, that means finding things to keep them busy. Here is a list of fun activities on the East Side and beyond to keep your tykes occupied throughout the week:

What: Splash Week, a fun program to help kids build self-confidence while learning basic swimming skills and water safety practices.

Where: East Side/Mt. Hope YMCA, 438 Hope Street, Providence.

When: Monday, April 16th – Thursday, April 19th

What: Public Tours will be open at the Slater Mill Museum throughout school vacation week. Tours will view exhibits, collections of artifacts, the research library, and more.

Where: Slater Mill Museum, 67 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket.

When: Monday, April 16th – Friday, April 20th from 11am-3pm

What: Imagination Playground, a new playspace designed to encourage child-directed, unstructured play. Kids can work together and construct castles, forts, vehicles that move, and many more creative projects with the assortment of props available.

Where: Providence Children's Museum, 100 South Street, Providence.

When: All day Monday, April 16th - Sunday, April 22nd.

What: Party for the Planet, a week of green-themed events in honor of Earth Day for families to share. Each day will be centered around a specific theme and include interactive activities, demonstrations, and performances for all to enjoy.

Where: Roger Williams Park Zoo, 1000 Elmwood Ave, Providence.

When: Monday, April 16th - Friday, April 20th from 11am-3pm.
